Helaka Ruwanpura is from Moratuwa.  In the last two years, he has participated in the Kala Pola, and his works have appeared in the Young Contemporaries and Nawa Kalakaruwo exhibitions.  He has worked as a set designer and is currently and Audiovisual Co-ordinator for a private advertising firm.

"My work is rooted in the sculptural traditions of the Buddhist & Hindu religions.  I base my paintings on this iconography in order to encourage the preservation of these priceless artifacts of Hindu and Buddhist culture."
