DHAMMIKA AKMEEMANA.  SRI LANKA

Dhammika Akmeemana is from Colombo. In addition to being a painter, she is a journalist and author with several Sinhala works to her credit. She has held group and solo exhibitions at the National Art Gallery in Colombo. Her work is included in the collection at President's House in Colombo.  Dhammika participated previously in the second International Artists' Camp held at Habarana.

"After a period of contemplation and relishing its wow and flutter, the subsidence of sensation is what I aim to capture in my line, use of colour and shapes.  Upon arriving at that ‘zero point’, it is not intended that I am left adrift with a sense of despair, neither is it that I grapple with expired fragments of feeling.  Rather I relish what life does offer and am illuminated by it.  At the level of subsidence, I am becalmed."
