DHAMMIKA AKMEEMANA. SRI LANKA
Dhammika Akmeemana is from Colombo. In addition to being a painter, she
is a journalist and author with several Sinhala works to her credit. She has held group
and solo exhibitions at the National Art Gallery in Colombo. Her work is included in the
collection at President's House in Colombo. Dhammika participated previously in the
second International Artists' Camp held at Habarana.
"After a period of contemplation and
relishing its wow and flutter, the subsidence of sensation is what I aim to capture in my
line, use of colour and shapes. Upon arriving at that zero point, it is
not intended that I am left adrift with a sense of despair, neither is it that I grapple
with expired fragments of feeling. Rather I relish what life does offer and am
illuminated by it. At the level of subsidence, I am becalmed."
