  
Vessantara Jataka. Vessantara (Bodhisatta, or the Buddha-to-be) was the son of
Sanjaya, the King of Sivi, and his beautiful Queen Phusati. Devoted to almsgiving
but never satisfied with giving, foster-king Vessantara lived happily in the city of
Jetuttara, in the Kingdom of Sivi. He lived with Queen Maddi, their little son Jali
and daughter, Kanhajina. |
